Documentation
Definition
Arithmetic mean of the class limits (upper and lower limits of a class).
Use
The class midpoint is stored in this field, if the characteristic is treated as a quantitative characteristic whose values are managed with classes.
- With an uneven number of classes, the classes are laid out so that the value entered here lies in the middle of the middle class.
- With an even number of classes, this value becomes the limit value of the two classes in the middle.
Procedure
In this field you can enter EITHER a value or an *. If you enter an *, the system calculates the class midpoint as:
class midpoint = tolerance range/2 + lower specification limit
Note
You must enter both specification limits (upper and lower), so that the system can perform the calculation automatically.
