Documentation
Definition
Route taken by the shipment. A shipment route consists of one or more legs.
Use
The route legs of a route specified in a shipment are transferred as shipment legs.
These shipment legs are taken into account during leg determination.
Data from the route header such as service agent(s), shipping type(s), distance, and planned durations are also copied into the shipment document header. However, this only takes place if the corresponding fields in the shipment document header are set to their initial values or are identical with the data from the old route. Manual entries thus take precedence and will not be overridden.
Examples
Route in the delivery as link between the point of departure and the
target destination
The route can be used as the shipment leg, for example
- NA: North Atlantic
- PA: Pacific
The corresponding route is entered during the delivery.
Transportation planning determines which ship is to be used to carry the delivery. There are the following possibilities for the North Atlantic (routes)
- NA1: Rotterdam - New York
- NA2: Antwerp - New York
Route in the delivery as target destination
A country can be divided into different delivery areas:
- R1: North
- R2: North-west
- R3: North-east
- R4: East, and so on.
The corresponding route was entered in the delivery.
During transportation planning, all deliveries with route R1 were selected. The person in charge of shipping determines whether there is still enough space on the truck. In order to load the truck completely, the person in charge of shipping also selects the deliveries with route R2.
Procedure
You can predefine different standard routes in the system, which can be used for recurring shipments.
By setting status 'planned' the route from the corresponding deliveries is copied as the shipment route into the shipment header, if it is identical in all deliveries and if Customizing of the shipping type has been set up for automatic route copying.
