Documentation
Definition
This indicator specifies whether the shipment is linked to other shipments.
Use
The value defined in Customizing for the shipment type is copied into the shipment header and cannot be changed.
You can use this characteristic to classify shipments for analysis purposes.
The system uses the leg indicator to determine the transportation planning indicator in the delivery. In addition the leg indicator affects the result of the leg determination in the shipment document.
If you do not specify a leg indicator in the shipment type, or if it was not assigned (leg indicator = initial), the shipment is treated as a direct shipment (leg indicator = direct leg).
Procedure
Examples
- Preliminary leg:
- A main leg shipment exists or is required for this shipment.
- Subsequent leg:
- A main leg shipment exists or is required for this shipment.
- Main leg:
- One or more preliminary and subsequent shipment legs are required for this shipment.
- Direct leg:
- No other shipments are linked to this shipment.
- Return leg:
- Means of transport is returning to its base.
Dependencies
The transportation planning status in the delivery is determined from the leg indicators. See: Transportation planning status
The leg indicator in the transport header affects the leg indicator at leg level if leg determination is carried out. See: Leg determination
