Definition

Number of a partial sample that is assigned to the inspection characteristic in the task list.

Use

You can inspect several inspection characteristics within a task list using a certain partial sample.

These partial samples are reported separately in sample-drawing instruction. For each partial sample, the system names the sample quantity and the assignment to the inspection operations and work centers.

Sample quantities of the partial samples

The system determines the quantity of each partial sample from the largest sample quantity of all the characteristics that are to be checked using a particular partial sample.

Special case 1: When the tax code additive sample quantity is set in an inspection characteristic, the sample quantity for the relevant characteristic is specifically added to the partial sample quantity.

Special case 2: For optional characteristics and for characteristics with status 'Skip', the system determines the scope of the samples, but does not take account of the sample quantities.

Sample quantities in the inspection lot

  • Without sample management
The total sample quantity for an inspection lot equals the total sum of the quantities of all partial samples.
  • With sample management
If you enter a sample-drawing procedure in the task list header, this defines a number of primary samples. You can also define a number of pooled samples and reserve samples.
    • If no pooled samples are planned, the partial samples are displayed directly from a primary sample. As a result, the quantity of the primary sample is equal to the total of all the partial sample quantities.
    • If pooled samples are planned, the partial samples are withdrawn from a pooled sample. As a result, the quantity of each pooled sample is equal to the total of all the partial sample quantities. Because the pooled samples are displayed from primary samples, the quantity of each primary sample is equal to the total of the pooled sample quantities divided by the number of primary samples.

The total sample quantity for an inspection lot is equal to the total quantities from the primary samples.

Note: Reserve samples are reported separately, and are not taken into account when determining sample quantities in an inspection lot.
