  • In a dialog step, the superior work item is a work queue work item or a workflow work item.
  • In a background step, the superior work item is always a workflow work item.
  • In a workflow, the superior work item is always a workflow work item.
  • In a wait step, the superior work item is always a workflow work item.
  • In a work queue, the superior work item is either a workflow work item or a work queue work item.
  • When a deadline is exceeded, the superior work item is either a dialog work item, a background work item, a workflow work item, a wait step work item or a work queue work item.
