Definition
Number of significant figures during iterative price calculation. <
Use
For more accurate results, you can set the activity price unit in price calculation. The activity price does not then apply for one unit of activity, but for 10, 100, 1000, or 10000 units. The higher the price unit specified, the more accurately the price is presented. If the activity price for one unit is already quite high, but you want to use the activity unit to achieve more accurate activity prices, this results in even larger values for the activity prices. To limit this, specify the number of digits so that the activity price appears with the desired significant digits. The standard value is 6.
The effectiveness of your entry is restricted by two settings:
- The decimal places permitted for the currency
- The highest price unit
Example
If the activity price for one unit is 1033.33333333 - the currency works only with two decimal places:
- Given 6 significant figures, the system sets the price unit 1 automatically and the result is 1033.33 - the lowest possible accuracy.
- Given 10 significant figures, the system sets the price unit 10,000 automatically and the result is 10,333,333.33 - the highest possible level of accuracy.
- Given 11 significant figures, the system sets the price unit 10,000 automatically, the result remains 10,333,333.33 - increasing the number of significant figures has no effect since the highest price unit ("10,000") and the permitted decimal places ("2") were already reached when "10" is entered.
