Definition
Defines which operations are taken into account for the reduction of the lead time of the following objects:
- Routings
- Production orders,
- Planned orders,
- Collective orders
- Networks.
Use
You can choose between the following reduction types:
- Reduction of all operations
The reduction measures are carried out step-for-step for all operations until the whole lead time has been suficiently reduced. After reduction all the operations have the same reduction level.
- Reduction of operations on the critical path
You can only use this type of reduction for
- Collective orders
- Routings, planned orders and production orders that contain parallel sequences
- Networks
In each reduction step, reduction measures are only applied to those operations, for which a reduction of the lead time results in a reduction of the whole lead time. In collective orders and orders with parallel sequences, the sum of these operations is known as the critical path. Since there can be different critical paths for each reduction step, operations can have different reduction levels before a sufficent reduction of the whole lead time is achieved.
In both types of reduction the order floats are reduced according to their settings.
Dependencies
In routings, planned orders and productions orders that are not part of a collective order and do not contain parallel sequences, there is no critical path and consequently the second type of reduction has no effect, reduction of all operations is used.
Notes
Reduction of operations on the critical path makes greater demands on the system than standard reduction and can cause a reduction in performance.
