Definition
Name that uniquely identifies an inspection method within a plant.
An inspection method describes how to inspect an inspection characteristic. You can assign an inspection method to a master inspection characteristic or directly to an inspection characteristic in an inspection plan.

Procedure
- When you create a master record, you can enter your own (alphanumeric) identifier. If you do not enter an identifier, the system automatically assigns the master record a number from the predefined number range.
- When you create, change, delete, and display a validity period of a master record, you must enter the identifier of an existing master record.

Use
You can assign as many inspection methods to an inspection characteristic as you want.
Procedure
- Select one of the following procedures:
- You enter an inspection method in this field.
- You search for an inspection method using the input help.
Dependencies
If you want to search for an inspection method in a different plant, enter the plant in the appropriate field. To use an inspection method from the same plant, do not enter a plant in this field.
