Use
Used for calculating the volume correction factor (VCF) according to the following formula:
VCF = Ts * (Pe + Pamb)/((To + t) * Ps * GLDF)
The following applies:
- Pe = measured pressure of meter
- Pamb = air pressure
- Ps = standard pressure
- GLDF = gas law deviation factor
- To = zero temperature of the particular temperature scale
(Celsius or Fahrenheit) specified in absolute units (that is,
273.15 Kelvin or 460 Rankine) - Ts = standard temperature in absolute units (Kelvin or Rankine)
- t = gas temperature in non-absolute units (Celsius or Fahrenheit)
Ps and Ts refer to standard physical conditions. The standard conditions vary, depending on whether a metric or imperial system of measurement is used (see example below).
The constants To and Ts are used to adjust the above formula so that the gas temperature t can be maintained in the following temperature tables in the units of measurement for that country (degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit):
Example
- Metric system: gas temperature in degrees Celsius
The following applies: Ts = 273.15 Kelvin and To = Ts = 273.15 Kelvin.
You therefore maintain t in degrees Celsius in the temperature tables.
- English system: gas temperature in degrees Fahrenheit
The following applies: Ts = 520 Rankine and To = 460 Rankine (zero temperature of the Fahrenheit scale).
You therefore maintain t in degrees Fahrenheit in the temperature tables.
