Definition

The maximum volume that can be carried by a vehicle.

Use

The maximum volume is specified in the vehicle master. It is calculated as a sum of the volumes for each compartment in a transport unit. The volumes of the constituent transport units are then added up to provide a maximum volume for the vehicle.

During scheduling, the maximum volume is compared with the accumulated volume of the product loaded for the vehicle. If the scheduled or loaded volume exceeds the vehicle maximum volume and the 'check overloading' flag is selected for the shipment type, an error message is produced. It is then not possible to confirm the shipment, unless the scheduled or loaded quantities are reduced to a level at which the vehicle is no longer overloaded.
