Documentation
Definition
Route taken by the delivery item to reach the customer. You can use the route in a delivery to represent the following situations:
- One or more shipment legs
- A connection between the point of departure and the destination point
- A target area
Use
You can pre-define different standard routes in the system which are dependent on:
- Where the delivery comes from
- Where it is going
- Under what conditions it is to be delivered
You can use the route as a selection criteria for:
- Collective processing of deliveries
- Selecting deliveries for transportation planning
Examples
The route as a connection between departure point and destination point.
In the delivery, you can specify that it takes one of the following routes:
- NA: North Atlantic
- PA: Pacific
Which ship is to carry the delivery is not determined until transportation planning.
Route as target area.
A country can be divided into different delivery areas:
- R1: North
- R2: North-west
- R3: North-east
- R4: East, etc.
Enter the corresponding route in the delivery. In transportation planning, you can select deliveries destined for one or more target areas.
Procedure
The system can propose a route automatically in Customizing. If alternative entry values are defined for your system, you can change the route manually in the document.
