Definition
The safety factor is used to cater for fluctuations in requirements. It is multiplied by the result of the kanban calculation formula.
The formulas for the kanban calculation are as follows:
Number of kanbans = (( RT * AC) / CONT) * SF + C
Quantity per kanban = ((RT * AC) / (AK-C) * SF
Key to abbreviations: AK: Number of kanbans
CONT: Quantity per kanban
RT: Replenishment lead time per kanban
AC: Consumption per unit of time
SF: Safety factor (default value 1)
C: Constant (default value 1)
