Definition
Type of Stepped Rate Overhead to apply to the project.
In the United States, a project can only be Construction (MCO) or Catastrophe. Within a project marked as Construction, only WBS's that have a Construction overhead type will be included in the calculation of the construction overhead. Similarly, for a project marked as Catastrophe, only WBS's that have a Catastrophe overhead type will be included in the calculation of the catastrophe overhead. A project cannot be marked as both Catastrophe and Construction.
In Canada, the project can be marked as Exploration, Drilling and/or Construction. All WBS's within the project with an Exploration overhead type would be included in the exploration overhead calculation. Similarly, all WBS's with Drilling or Construction overhead types would be included in the drilling and construction calculations respectively.
