Definition

A selection rule is a grouping of particular MRP elements and stocks in a rule that controls the importing of this data into the stock/requirements list and into the planning table for repetitive manufacturing.

• The system displays MRP elements only for the period that is defined in the selection horizon.
• The system displays only MRP elements that have been selected in the selection rule.
• The system only uses the materials that are flagged in the selection rule as relevant to availability for the calculation of available quantity and ranges of coverage.
• For the calculation of available stock, the system uses only the stocks that have been defined in the selection rule.

This creates a new business view of the data in the lists.

You define selection rules in Customizing for MRP or Customizing for consumption-based planning in the IMG activity Define selection rules.
