Definition
Unit which determines the basis on which the scheduling calculation should be made.
Dependencies
For time-based and performance-based maintenance plans, the individual maintenance packages can only use different features if their dimension is the same as the unit for the maintenance strategy.
Note
If you use the units "month" and "year" for time strategies for maintenance packages, this can lead to problems in the use of hierarchies.
The reason for this lies in the length of the month:
1 month = 30 days => 1 year = 360 days
But: 1 calendar year = 365 (366) days
Example
1st package: 1Y (Y = yearly) => due after 360 days
2nd package: 1M (M = monthly) => 12th monthly package due after 365 days
The 12th monthly package for the monthly strategy and the yearly strategy do not fall on the same date.
Note
SAP therefore recommends that for the combination of monthly and yearly packages, the yearly packages should be defined using the unit "month" and not the unit "year". This means:
1st package: 12M (yearly)
2nd package: 1M (monthly)
