Documentation
Use
Older releases or EDI subsystems identify an IDoc type via the field DOCTYP. However, from Release 4.0 onwards, IDoc types are only identified via the fields IDOCTYP (basis type) and possibly CIMTYP (customer extension).
To maintain compatibility, the names of IDoc types defined before Release 4.0 are still located in field DOCTYP (in table EDIDO). However, if new extensions defined by customers from Release 4.x onwards are to be exchanged with older releases, conversion tables which map CIMTYP and IDOCTYP onto DOCTYP must be maintained. If new basic types defined by SAP from Release 4.0 onwards are to be exchanged with older releases, DOCTYP is replaced with IDOCTYP.
