Standard hierarchy

Use

To create cost centers, you need a structure in the master data maintenance for the application menu. You need to assign the cost centers to this structure, which is called a standard hierarchy in Cost Center Accounting. You specify the standard hierarchy when you create a controlling area. If this hierarchy has not been created during controlling area maintenance, then the SAP system creates the top node there.

You can use group maintenance to create the standard hierarchy structure. You can do this in the application menu and in the system settings.

Notes

  • You can create as many different groups as required. However, you cannot create any cost centers there, but can only enter existing or non-existent cost centers.
  • In the standard hierarchy, the direct assignment to the controlling area ensures that all of the cost centers in a controlling area are grouped together.
