Use
Shows which materials and activities used in an operation result in scrap costs due to scrap occurring at the operation or at a subsequent operation.
Examples
Suppose you are a table manufacturer and have incurred the following cost of goods manufactured:
- Operation 010: Manufacture table legs
Cost of turning 4 legs USD 60 Time: 1 hour
Material usage costs USD 40 (4 wood blanks)
- Operation 020: Cement legs to table top
Cost of cementing USD 20
Cost of table top USD 30
Quality problems arise during the cementing operation. The entire table becomes scrap.
The scrap input quantity is the quantity of the materials and activities used, such as 1 hour for turning the four table legs at operation 010.
