Use
You can use the alternative posting string RE28 to activate a different stock update than for the standard posting string.
The value-based postings in inventory management with the posting string RE23 function according to the following rules (shown here for posting in the current posting period):
a) If no value-based stock is available (total stock of the material is less than or equal to zero (mbew-lbkum <= 0)), the net value of the vendor billing document is completely posted to the price difference account (account key: PRD).
b) If the quantity in the vendor billing document (VBD) is larger than the total stock available in the warehouse (quantity in vendor billing document > total stock (mbew-lbkum)), the proportional value in stock is posted to the stock account, and the rest to the price difference account.
The following formula is used:
Stock = net value * total stock / quantity in VBD.
Price difference = net value - stock
Example:
Current stock = 10 PC and 100 USD
Vendor billing document = 18 PC and 60 USD
Stock: 60 USD * 10/18 = 33.33 USD
Price difference: 60 USD - 33.33 USD = 26.57 USD
c) If the quantity in the vendor billing document is smaller than the total stock available (quantity in VBD < mseg-lbkum)), the quantity in the vendor billing document is completely contained in the stock, and the total value of the VBD is posted to the material.
Example: Current stock quantity = 100 PC, quantity in vendor billing document = 8 PC)
d) Special case: If the net value of the VBD is larger than, or the same as, the total value of the current stock (i_sgnbu-wrbtr >= xsmbew-salk3), everything is posted to the price difference account, that is, it is not weighted.
The posting string RE28 behaves in the same way as posting string RE23, except for d); this does not apply. Here, as described under b), the values are proportionally distributed to the stock account and the price difference account.
Requirements
Standard settings
If no alternative posting string is assigned, the standard posting string RE23 is used.
Activities
Enter either the standard posting string RE23 or the alternative posting string RE28. If no posting string is entered, the system uses the standard posting string to update the stock data.
