In this activity, you assign the profile, form, and device type to an output type and label category. By doing so, you refine the rough form assignment for various packed handling units to an output.
Example
You want the material description to appear on the label and the EAN in the bar code for certain handling units which contain one material. Material description does not apply for handling units that contain more than one material.
You therefore define two profiles, one of which contains the material EAN. You also need two forms that reflect the contents of the profiles. You have already assigned the print program and the form of your choice to the output type.
Enter the profile and the form that relate to the output type here, omitting material information. If the entry is to be universal, leave the label category blank. If you are dealing with a mixed handling unit (one that contains multiple materials), enter "G".
Enter your second profile and form for label categories "S" (handling unit contains only one material and is packed to full capacity) and "M" (handling unit contains only one material and contains other handling units).
Requirements
Output type, profile and form are maintained.
Standard settings
Profile SSCC00 and form LE_EAN128_SSCC00 are assigned to output type E128 for all label categories.
Activities
If you use labels that can be printed universally for all handling units, enter the bar code profile here that contains the information in bar code format according to the EAN128 standard. Leave the label category blank.
For other labels, you can use various label categories to control the form and bar code profile.
For printer-dependent forms, you also enter the device type. You can also create and use your own label categories. To do this, you can specify and assign the label category in enhancement EAN128U01.
The system first searches for an entry that corresponds exactly to the category and device type given for the handling unit. Then, it runs a search for an entry with the device type (without the label category. If it cannot find an entry, then the system searches for the label category, without the device type. If the system still cannot find an entry, it performs another search without device type or label category.
The following matrix describes the label category:
\ contains only one material
\------------------------------
packed to full capacity \ yes | no
---------------------------------------
no | M | G
---------------------------------------
yes | S | G
