Stock postings in Inventory Management (MM-IM) are represented by movement types. Together with other indicators, the movement type, which is used for goods movements in the MM-IM component, refers to a reference movement type of the Warehouse Management system (LE-WM). Using this reference movement type, the SAP system finds the following information:
- the movement type for the Warehouse Management system
- the stock category of the quants that are to be created
- the indicator for generating the transfer requirement and the posting change notices
In order to determine a WM movement type, the SAP system uses the following information:
- the warehouse number
- the reference movement type from the WM system
- the stock special indicator / WM
- the movement indicator
- the special stock indicator
- the special movement indicator / WM
The entry *** in the column WNo (warehouse number) indicates that the reference movement type applies to all warehouse numbers. The WM movement type is then found in the column MTy (Movement Type).
With the help of this WM movement type, the SAP system calls up the table in which the movement type for determining the processing of the goods movement in the Warehouse Management system is defined.
Requirements
The component MM-IM (Inventory Management) is implemented.
Standard settings
In the SAP standard system all the relevant movement types are preset.
Recommendation
SAP recommends that you accept the settings defined in the standard system. In this case, no action is required on your part.
Activities
- Check the WM reference movement types that correspond to the IM movement types. If you have the movement tye 999, the movement in MM-IM has no effect on the Warehouse Management system.
- If you have different procedures for the different warehouse numbers (for example, transfer requirement creation or direct transfer order control), create the WM movement types for each warehouse number separately.
- Make a complete consistency check for all warehouse numbers and for both table links.
