Before you assign values for your actual organizational structure, you have to define the underlying components of the organizational structure.
In this IMG activity, you determine for each institution how the organizational hierarchy of your hospital should look. You stipulate
- The number of levels in the hierarchy
- Which organizational unit categories are located above which other organizational unit categories in this structure.
Activities
Establish a hierarchical relationship between the organizational unit categories for each institution by entering the category that is directly above a lower-level category in your hospital structure. Several categories can be located above any one organizational unit category. An organizational unit category that is the higher-level category in a hierarchical relationship cannot at the same time be below the same organizational unit category.
Example
You want to map your organizational structure in the system as follows:
- Your hospital is composed of several clinics.
- Each clinic contains several departments.
- Each department has several care units at its disposal.
You would make the following entries for this example:
Inst. High Low
1 C D
1 D C
- High: higher-level organizational unit category
- Low: lower-level organizational unit category
Note
You set up the actual organizational hierarchy in organizational unit hierarchy maintenance (transaction code NB23).
