In this IMG activity, you create the organizational categories for each institution together with texts and control indicators.
Definition
You use the organizational category to determine which functions can be performed with an organizational unit. You can further restrict the function setting at organizational unit level.
To enable patient assignment to be carried out using a sequence of organizational unit identifiers, you require keywords and position numbers. With the specifications you make in this table,
- the keywords for the organizational unit categories and
- the fields for the organizational unit identifiers
are set up dynamically on the screen.
Use
Keywords appear where the assignment of patients using a sequence of organizational units - in the order of the position numbers - is entered or displayed (in the case header, for example). The position numbers are used to place the identifiers of the organizational units of the associated organizational categories in a sequence.
You specify separately, for each case type, which identifiers can be entered or displayed. For more information about this, refer to the section entitled Assign Organizational Categories to Case Types.
Example
In the following case header display
CL.. Clin1 DE.. Surg CU.. CU1
"CL", "DE" and "ST" are keywords whose order is specified by the position number of the related organizational category identifier.
Activities
Define organizational categories for your institutions and select the corresponding indicators:
- Departmental assignment allowed (DA): e.g. for departments
- Nursing assignment allowed (NA): e.g. for care units
- Inter-departmental OU (Int): e.g. for care units on which beds can be assigned patients from other departments. This indicator is only useful in connection with the nursing assignment indicator.
- The organizational unit should be able to assign patients to beds on organizational units that are not subordinate to it in the organizational hierarchy (Asg): e.g. departments
This indicator is only useful in connection with the departmental assignment indicator.
- Outpatient visit allowed (OV): e.g. for outpatient treatment facilities
- Indicator that an organizational unit can perform medical record administration functions
- The indicators Req (requesting), Pln (planning) and P (performability) are only useful if you use the IS-H*MED components. For further information, refer to the IS-H*MED Implementation Guide.
Note
To set up the identifiers, choose Set Up Identifiers in organizational structure maintenance. To be able to do this, you need to have first maintained the organizational units and the organizational hierarchy.
