In this IMG activity, you store a postal code catalog for a given country. Postal codes are used in the following contexts in the IS-H System:
- In the patient master
- Address data
- Employer's address
- Next of kin's address
- For the insurance relationship
- Main insured's address
- Alternative invoice recipient
- For organizational units
- For the business partner
- In the institution master record
Execution
You can enter your own postal code catalog, or import the appropriate country-specific catalog. The standard IS-H System does not contain postal code catalogs.
You can obtain the catalog that is valid for Germany from
Deutsche PostConsult GmbH
Herbert-Rabius-Str. 24
53225 Bonn
Tel: 0228/9722-422
If you want to work with this catalog, SAP provides report RNUPLZ00 for importing the data. Refer to the report documentation and the latest release note, since the respective versions often use different formats (SAP note 24560 IS-H: Importing Postal Codes - RNUPLZ00).
You can create further entries, or correct existing ones using the individual maintenance function.
Description
Postal code maintenance enables you to modify existing entries, or to create new entries. The system first displays a dialog box where you can specify search criteria, or choose Create. If you want to modify existing entries, specify search criteria, and then choose Search. Select the required entries in the resulting hit list, and then choose Change or Delete. To save your changes in the database choose Save.
Note
Note that the changes you make here are effective in all clients, since the postal code catalog is stored in a client-independent manner.
Use
Three options exist when you are specifying an address:
- You enter the postal code - the system then determines the corresponding postal delivery address on the basis of the country-specific postal code catalog. If the postal code does not exist, the system issues an error message. If several postal delivery addresses exist, you automatically branch into the postal code search.
- You enter an address - the system determines the corresponding postal code on the basis of the country-specific postal code catalog. If no corresponding address exists, the system does not issue an error message since you can also enter addresses that do not feature in the catalog. If several postal codes exist, you automatically branch into the postal code search.
- You enter the postal code and the address. You can use the client-specific, time-independent system parameter PLZ_ORT to stipulate whether a check should be performed using the country-specific postal code catalog. If you have set this parameter, the system issues a message only if a catalog is installed for the current country. If you do not want a message to be issued in the case of an incomplete catalog, you have to make an * entry in this catalog. To do this, enter an * in Postal code field and the country name in the City field.
This procedure applies to P.O. box specifications also.
