Use

In this IMG activity, you assign a department status to a department.

The system evaluates this table when movements are created or changed. If a department status is defined for a department in this table, the system automatically creates a department status if there is a movement in a department with the assigned status. The system initially sets the department status to "open". When the department has completed the medical documentation, it manually sets the appropriate department status to "complete".

A department status combines all of a case's stays in a department. Thus, even when a case is transferred several times to and from the "Surgery" department, there is only one and not several open department statuses for surgery.

If there are no department statuses for a case specified in Customizing, the system suppresses the Open Dept Statuses field from the screen. The system sets and deletes department statuses when movements are maintained using the Clinical Process Builder (transaction NV2000) and by BAPIs.

You can maintain and display the department status in the following transactions:

  • IS-H: Create Surgery (Visit) (NP37)
  • IS-H: Maintain Case-Related Procedures (NP47)
  • IS-H: Maintain Diagnoses for Case/Department (NP61)
  • IS-H*MED: Maintain Diagnoses for Case/Department (N222)
  • IS-H: Maintain DRG Data (NPDRG2)
  • IS-H*MED: Surgery Documentation (N1PG)

Requirements

You must create a status profile for the department statuses in the IMG activity Define Status Profiles. You define a department status by not assigning a status number to the status.

Each case to which you want to assign a department status must have a status profile. You make this assignment in the IMG activity Maintain Status Profiles Used for Medical Documentation.

Standard settings

Activities

You can assign a specific department status to a department for a given time frame. You can stipulate whether the system is to assign the department status independently of the status profile. To do this, enter an asterisk ('*') in the Status Profile field, or leave the field blank.

You can define the assignment for a specific event. Note that the validity periods of entries with the same department, same event and same status profile must not overlap.

Example

Entries for Surgery Department:

Dept        Event                Valid From To        Status Profile        Dept Status

DSURG    Inpat.Adm./Trns.        1.1.2003-31.12.2003        *            DSURG1

DSURG    Inpat.Adm./Trns.        1.1.2004-31.12.9999        *            DSURG2

DSURG    Outp.Vst in Inp.Cs.    30.06.2003-31.12.9999    *            DSURG1

DSURG    Outp.Vst in Inp.Cs.    30.06.2003-31.12.9999    ISH00000        DSURG

The entries have overlapping validity periods. However, this is allowed because they have different events (Inpat. Adm./Trnsf. or Outpat. Visits in Inp. Case).

Based on the above entries, the system sets the determined department status in the following situations:

  • For inpatient cases admitted on 30.06.2003, the "DSURG1" status would be set for the DSURG department, provided that this department status exists in the status profile of the case. For instance, department status DSURG1 exists in the status profiles ISH00000 and ISH00001, but not in ISH00002. If the status profile ISH00000 or ISH000001 is assigned to the case, the DSURG1 status is set. If the status profile ISH00002 is assigned to the case, the DSURG1 status is not set. For inpatient cases admitted on 30.06.2004, the department status DSURG2 is set.
  • For outpatient visits in this inpatient case admitted on 30.06.2003, the department status DSURGA is set, if the status profile ISH00000 is assigned to the case. If a different status profile containing the department status DSURG1 is assigned to the case, the status DSURG1 is set.
