In this IMG activity, you define the institutions of your hospital.

The institution is the central structural object in the IS-H System for defining independent entities. You use the institution when specifying the assignment to other organizational areas of the SAP System, such as the company code, controlling area, plant and sales organization.

Recommendation

You should take the following points into consideration when defining an institution:

  • It is not possible to assign two company codes to the same institution. You can, however, assign several institutions to the same company code. The same is true for the controlling area.
  • The limits of an institution are usually predefined by external reporting, for example government-mandated statistics.
  • The institution fixes a boundary for all movement transactions in the IS-H System. In other words, you may not transfer a patient to another institution. You first have to discharge the patient, before admitting him or her to a different institution.

Note Country Version Switzerland

For medical statistics pursuant to BfS, you should enter the company number in the Institution Indicator field and the NOGA code in the Hospital Number field.
