The following types of printer determination are available:

  • Manual entry of a printer when posting an invoice or in the "Process output" function
  • Fixed definition of a printer in the condition
  • User-specific printer determination for the following parameters:
    • User
    • User default values

The printer is always determined as follows:

  1. If you enter a printer manually when posting an invoice or in the "Process output" function, the output will be printed out on this printer.
  2. If you do not enter a printer manually, but a fixed printer is defined in the condition, the output will be printed out on this printer.
  3. If you do not enter a printer manually and a printer is not specified in the condition, the system uses the following parameters to search for a printer, depending on the print parameters of the output type (U or S):
    • User
    • User default values
  4. If the output is not printed out immediately, you can still change the printer manually using the function "Process output" or in the spool file.


In this step, you define for each user the printer from which an output type is printed.

This is only relevant for output types with the print parameter U.

Example

For user XYZ, the system should print consignment notes on printer LT01 and letters of complaint on printer LT02.

For user XYZ, you define output device LT01 for output type KONS and output device LT02 for output type REKL.

Requirements

You can only maintain printer determination for output types with print parameter U (user). Check on the detail screen for output type whether this is the case.

Activities

For each user, specify the printer from which each output type should be printed.

Also maintain the printout specifications (for example, delete spool request after printing).

Further notes

Alternatively, you can print an output from the printer specified in the user master record. To do this you must maintain print parameter S in the output type.
