In this step, you determine the document type for bar code entry using the company code and document type. In this way, you can use the company code and document type to control whether the additional window for entering the bar code is presented when you enter documents.

The system accesses the Customizing table at several levels, depending on whether you specify:

  • Both the company code and the document type
  • The company code but not the document type
  • The document type but not the company code
  • Neither the company code nor the document type

The first entry found determines the document type. In the step Activate Bar Code Storing, you use the transaction Settings for Bar Code Entry to enter information on the bar code for object type BUS2081 and the document type. You can do this for all users or for for individual users. You have to choose the setting 'Bar code active' so that the additional window for entering the bar code appears when you post a document.
