Billing document &1 cannot be reversed for adjustment

Diagnosis
As yet, the billing document shows no link to invoicing. An adjustment reversal makes no sense in this case as this is used purely to reverse a billing document from a billing perspective, without resetting the billing line items that have been posted in invoicing.
