Definition
Element in the authorization system. An authorization profile allows users access to the system.
In an authorization check, the system checks all the profiles in a user master record for the appropriate authorization.

Procedure
Create profiles: Enter the names of the profiles you want to include into this composite profile.
- You can only specify simple profiles, not other composite profiles.
- You can also specify names of profiles not yet created. You must define and activate a non-defined profile before you can activate the composite profile.

Enter the name of the profile you want to display. No restriction: Leave the field blank.
Generic search: Enter a character string followed by * . The system displays all the values that begin with the character string specified.

To assign a profile to a user, enter the name of the profile. In the user master, you can enter:
- any number of profiles. Use the Profile key to display a list of profiles.
- only profiles which were defined and activated.

Definition
This field contains a code representing an authorization profile that exists in the system. Authorization profiles control user activities.
In the Standard Profiles infotype window:
Use this field to identify the authorization profile you wish to include in a Standard Profile infotype record. To do so:
- type in the appropriate code, or
- retrieve a list of authorities and make a selection by:
. pressing F4, or
. clicking on the down arrow
The List Selection dialog box appears. Use the different fields in the window to extract a list of authorization profiles. Then, select from the list.
In the List Selection dialog box:
You can use this field with others in the window, to extract a list of authorization profiles. This field allows you to extract a list according to authorization code. To do so:
- enter a string of characters with an asterisk * For example, enter abc* to obtain a list of authorizations beginning with abc.
Otherwise, leave the field blank.
