Definition

The system distinguishes the following depreciation types:

  • Ordinary depreciation
  • Special depreciation
  • Unplanned depreciation
  • Transferred reserves

The order in which the system determines the depreciation amounts of the various depreciation types is, to a certain extent, variable.

Although the system always determines the transfer of reserves first and the unplanned depreciation last, you can define the order in which ordinary and special depreciation are determined. If you set this indicator, the system will calculate ordinary depreciation before special depreciation in this area. Depreciation is then determined in the following sequence:

  1. Transferred reserves
  2. Ordinary depreciation
  3. Special depreciation
  4. Unplanned depreciation

If it becomes necessary to reduce the depreciation in this area or in an area derived from this area because of the net book value rule, the system reduces the depreciation types in exactly the opposite order:

  1. Unplanned depreciation
  2. Special depreciation
  3. Ordinary depreciation
  4. Transferred reserves
