Definition
The technical material number that you can assign to a material group.
Use
You can assign a value-only material number to each merchandise category. The value-only material is the basic requirement for assigning a cash register key or a cash register number at the POS. Consequently this allows you to record business volumes within a material group from material sales. It is a basis for value-based inventory management.
When downloading the physical inventory documents for a store physical inventory, this field contains the value-only material number that is also in the corresponding inventory document item. In this case, the indicator "inventory value-only material" is set in the intermediate document.
If the indicator "break down value-only materials" was not set for the download, the field "material number" in the intermediate document also contains the value-only material number and exactly one intermediate document item is created for this inventory document item.
If the indicator "break down value-only materials" was set for the download, then all the individual materials which are inventoried on this value-only material are determined and an intermediate document item created for each individual material. In this case, the field "material number" contains the number of the individual material, and the appropriate number of intermediate document items are created for an inventory document item.
During POS - interface inbound processing of the actual count data, this field has no importance.
