Documentation
Definition
The path that the goods or services take to reach the customer. Typical examples of distribution channels are wholesale, retailing or direct sale.
Use
You can define data on customers and materials for each sales organization and distribution channel. Within a sales organization you can deliver to a certain customer using several distribution channels.
You can assign a certain distribution channel to one or more sales organizations. If you work with a number of sales organizations, each of these sales organizations can use the distribution channel "wholesale" for example.
Note
You can also assign one or more of the divisions defined for the sales organization in question to each combination of sales organization and distribution channel. You can then assign for instance, the divisions food and non-food to the distribution channel "wholesale".
A particular combination of sales organization, distribution channel and division is called the sales area.
