Definition
Universal standard number for unique identification of a specific material. This number always refers to a certain unit of measure or packaging.
The European Article Number (EAN) is generally assigned by the producer of the material. In this case, the producer is also explicitly identified by the EAN.
In addition, a company can assign the EAN using different procedures for instore numbering. The instore EAN is only known to the company.
The EAN corresponds in U.S.A to the Universal Product code (UPC)
Use
All EANs of the materials to be inventoried are transferred during POS interface outbound processing of the physical inventory documents.
