Definition
Object master to which the object number refers.
Use
Object master and object number serve to link the warranty claim to the object.
Possible object master records are:
- Installation (IBAS)
- Vehicle (VELO)
Object of the application Vehicle Management System (VMS) in SAP Automotive. Choose this setting if the warranty claim object is a vehicle from VMS.
Note: you do not have this option in SAP R/3 Enterprise. - Equipment (EQUI)
- Functional location (FUNC)
- Serial number (SERN)
The combination of serial number and material number uniquely identifies an object.Hinweis: if you choose this object type, the material number is copied to the field External object number. If you only work with this object type, we recommend that you display a subscreen with the fields Serial number and Materialnummer within the header screen by using BAdI WTY_DYNPRO_DYNAMIC.
- Other (O)
For customer-specific master data
You can use BAdI WTY_READ_SUPPL_DATA to link in other object masters, read additional object data and make a different entry for the external object number.
You can then use BAdI WTY_F4_RELOB to adapt the F4 search help for the external object number.
It is not absolutely necessary to link the warranty claim to an object. You do not have to enter an object for a claim for an accessory (for example, ski compartment on the roof of a car).
