Definition

Defines which method shall be used to create a new material using an existing material as a template in the Enhanced Material Search function.

Use

You can set the Creation Method based on Material field in Customizing by choosing Materials Management -> General Settings for Materials Management -> Enhanced Material Search -> Configure and Activate Enhanced Material Search with Creation.

The following methods are offered:

• Simplified Material Creation:
  Use this method to create standard materials and retail single articles. It is possible to create these either in the background or via a simplified user interface. To use this option, you must first configure the Customizing activity Logistics - General -> Material Master -> Enhanced Material Search with Creation -> Configure Simplified Creation of a Material in the Material Search. You must also assign reference materials for the supported material types and vendors in the Reference Material Maintenance function (transaction WSD_REFMAT).
• BAdI: Modify Material Creation
  Use this method to implement a customer specific method to create materials using BAdI BADI_WSD_MAT_CREATION_EXTERNAL.
• Core Master Data Maintenance for Materials:
  Use this method to create retail ariticles in retail systems using the Core Master Data Maintenance interface. You have to maintain a maintenance group in Customizing by choosing Materials Management -> General Settings for Materials Management -> Enhanced Material Search -> Configure and Activate Enhanced Material Search with Creation.
• Material Master Maintenance:
  This method can be used in retail systems to create retail articles by calling the initial Material Maintenance function (transaction MM41).

Dependencies

The option Core Master Data Maintenance can only be used in retail systems. It must be configured before you can use the retail article creation with this method.
