Definition
With the "Plant used for reading cost estimate", you specify which plant should be used to find a valid cost estimate for a given material using the costing keys assigned to that material.
By default, the system always accesses cost estimates in Product Cost Controlling on the basis of the plant quoted in the CO-PA line item. There are two ways of changing this default setting:
- In "Costing Key Definition" (in Customizing for valuation, under "Define Keys for Accessing Material Cost Estimates"), you can enter a plant explicitly.
If a plant is specified as a fixed entry in the costing key definition, the system always uses that plant when accessing costing data.
- With the "Assign Costing Keys to Any Characteristics" activity, it is possible to include the "Plant used for reading cost estimate" field in the definition of your assignment table.
If costing keys are accessed using "flexible assignment" during valuation with a material cost estimate and the relevant assignment table also contains a designated valuation plant, then the costing data for any costing keys without an explicitly designated plant is read using the plant entered in the assignment table as opposed to the plant stored in the CO-PA line item.
