Definition

The job safety analysis (JSA) is an important tool for preventing accidents, because it helps to find hazards and eliminate or minimize them before work begins and before the hazard can lead to an accident. A JSA should include all the steps required for specific work. A JSA is used to clarify the work and check hazards, as a guide for training new employees, as a regular means of communication and further training for experienced employees, as a refresher in the case of work that is required less often, as a tool for investigating accidents, and as an source of information about job-specific hazards and preventive measures for employees.
