Documentation
Definition
Index series that replaces a no longer valid index series.
Example
Example 1:
The consumer price index VPI 2000 replaces (in Germany) the price index for the cost of living for 4-person households 4PH 1980 starting with January 2000.
Index Series Replaced Year New Index Series Year Date Chaining Percentage
4PH 1980 VPI 2000 12/31/1999 160.0
Example 2:
The consumer price index VPI 2000 replaces (in Germany) the consumer price index VPI 1995 starting with January 2001.
Index Series Replaced Year New Index Series Year Date Chaining Percentage
VPI 1995 VPI 2000 12/31/1999 105.5
The responsible government authorities supply the chaining percentages. They basically represent the index level of the index series being replaced in the chaining month.
The index level in the chaining month for the new index series is also required for converting the point rule from the contract. Therefore, you have to make an entry for each new index series. For the above examples, this would be VPI2000 in both cases.
As chaining percentage, the entry receives the index level of the index series in 12/1999, and as new index series it receives VPI 2000:
Index Series Replaced Year New Index Series Year Date Chaining Percentage
VPI 2000 VPI 2000 12/31/2000 99.1
