Definition

Customer whose data is copied when a new customer is created.

Use

This customer has the following purposes:

  • It is used as the template when customers (that are companies) are created, that is, the data cannot be entered online, instead it is copied from this customer and saved in a new master record.
  • If the "Consumer" indicator is not selected,
    • this customer is also used as the template when creating customers that are people
    • in this case, there is no technical difference between customers that are companies (corporate customers) and customers that are people (private customers, or consumers)
    • this customer is also implicitly used to simulate the order for price and availability information when no customer number is explicitly entered for an order.
  • If the "Consumer" indicator is selected,
    • for private customers (consumers), the system creates only a reduced master record without organizational data. The system takes the organizational data from the reference customer that you define under "Master data -> Customer -> Business partner -> Consumer -> Reference customer". As a result, the master record for consumers requires less space.
    • the reference customer, and not the template customer, is implicitly used to simulate an order, if no customer number is explicitly entered for an order.
