Definition
The payment method determines which procedure, for example, check, bank transfer or bill of exchange is used to make payments.
Use
You enter payment methods in the accounts receivable/accounts payable master records in order to determine how payments are made. If an open item should be paid using a specific payment method, you enter it in the open item. This payment method also has to be entered in the business partner master record. The conditions defined for the payment method have to be fulfilled for the payment.
Procedure
You define payment methods in the financial accounting customizing menu by carrying out the following steps:
- You define all the country-specific settings which are required for a payment method.
- You then define which conditions the payment method can be used under per company code.
All payment methods are displayed in the payment method selection screenwithin the customer or vendor master record. You select the payment method you require; the system transfers the payment methods to the business partner master record.
