Definition
With ranges, you can define here that you do want the system to check whether the lower limit is less than or equal to the upper limit when specifying variables for variants.
This is useful whenever the variable is meant for a field type other than a character type, e.g. for numeric fields.
Since the variable itself is stored in external (character) format, the input
234 bis 1234
would, for example, result in an error because '1234' as character input is smaller than '234'.
