Definition
You use securities accounts to manage and value your positions.
You need them for all transactions which require position management. The securities accounts created in the system usually correspond to actual securities accounts at a bank.

Use
When you create a new securities account, you assign a short name (key) for the securities account of 10 digits or less. This short name uniquely identifies the securities account.
Recommendation: Assign the most 'suitable' short name possible, since the short name of a securities account may also be used in the evaluation report, for example.

Use
Lending Securities Account
Two securities accounts are relevant for a securities lending transaction. The first securities account is the one in which the securities exist before the lending transaction. At the start of term, the securities are transferred to a lending securities account. At the end of term, the securities are transferred back to the original securities account from the lending securities account.
Dependencies
Securities in a lending account cannot be sold or cleared using corporate action or exercise rights.
To indicate a securities account is a lending account, you must define a securities account category in Customizing for 'lending securities account'. You must then enter this securities account category in the lending account master data.
