Use
The packaging material types that you enter here are used for a calculation (for example, allowed weight, remaining volume).
The allowed weight (volume) of a shipment with respect to a quantity of packaging material types, is the total of the allowed weights (volumes) of the handling units that have been assigned to the shipment for these packaging material types. The handling units must be created in the shipment (not in the delivery). Also, only the handling units that are not packed in any other handling units for this packaging material type are taken into account.
The remaining usable load (remaining volume) of a shipment with respect to a quantity of packaging material types, is the total of the remaining usable loads (remaining volumes) of the handling units that have been assigned to the shipment for these packaging material types. The handling units must be created in the shipment (not in the delivery). Also, only the handling units that are not packed in any other handling units for this packaging material type are taken into account
Procedure
Enter one or several packaging material types (for example, crates, trucks, pallets).
Example
During requirements planning for a shipment, the following handling
units are created.
Handling unit Packaging material types
LKW 4711 Truck
Pallet 0001 Euro-pallet
Pallet 0002 Euro-pallet
Pallet 0003 Euro-pallet
Pallet 0004 Euro-pallet
Pallet 0005 Euro-pallet
Box XXXX Box
Box YYYY Box
The pallets (0001,...,0005) and box XXXX are loaded onto truck 4711 (packed) and box YYYY is packed onto pallet 0001.
Let us say that the allowed weight for handling unit LKW 4711 is set at 7.5 tons, that of the pallets is 400 kg and for the boxes 50 kg.
The allowed weight of the shipment with respect to the truck packaging material type is 7.5 tons.
The allowed weight of the shipment with respect to the euro-pallet packaging material type is 2000 kg.
The allowed weight of the shipment with respect to the euro-pallet and the box packaging material types is 2050 kg.
A calculation is made, using the total of allowed weights of the pallets (0001,...,0005) and the box XXXX.
Note
The packaging material types are freely definable.
