Documentation
Definition
Outlier correction is a function that identifies and replaces outliers in historic data. Outliers are anomolous values that cannot be explained by the forecasting model that you have selected. They can heavily influence the forecast result.
Within the forecast function, outliers are defined by sigma factors. Each outlier is replaced by the ex-post forecast value for the relevant time. After this correction has been made the forecast calculation is performed again with the amended historic data.
Use
Activate outlier correction if you think that outliers (according to the forecast function definition) have an unfavorable effect on the forecast result. Avoid using outlier correction if anomolous values are to be taken into account when you calculate a forecast.
