Definition

The asset value date is the value date for Asset Accounting. It can be different from the posting date and document date. It can be in a posting period that is already closed for accounting. The posting year and valueyear have to be the same, however.

Since the asset value date can have a direct influence on the amount of depreciation, the system creates a default value when it can. The overview that follows shows the default asset value date for the most important asset transactions:

Initial aquis.    Posting date/capitalization date of master record

Subs. acquis. in the same year    Asset value date of initial acquis. (=Cap. date)

Subs. acquis. in later years    Posting date

Retirement    No default value (required entry)
