N (Service) L (Subcontracting)
E (Internal activity) F (External activity)
V (Variable item) S (Total)
I (Delivery costs) A (Co-product)
T (Text) P (Process costs manually)

J (Sub cost estimate) - only for Easy Cost Planning
Use
In product costing the system automatically determines the item category and assigns it to the costing item.
In unit costing you can enter the item category for each costing item yourself. You then use the item category to control the following for each costing line:
- which data you can enter
- which data will be provided by the system as a result of your entries
Some item categories are only used in unit costing, such as item categories P (process costs manually), S (total), T (text) and V (variable items).
However, it is not possible to enter item categories such as G, X, and A manually in unit costing. Item category A can only be used in product costing. G and X are determined by the system either on saving or when you execute the function Calculate overhead, and are inserted in the cost estimate.
