Definition
An index consists of the company code and period field, plus an additional configurable field. To speed up performance of the query tools, up to 4 indices can be defined for each data segment.
Query tools automatically use an appropriate index, if available. If no index is available, query utilities have to scan the complete data segment.
Indices take up additional storage space. Detailed statistical information can be displayed by the data extract browser tool.
