Use
For cross-line searching, the sort variable is part of the storage bin key that is used by the system to search for empty storage bins. The sort field consists of six characters of a storage bin coordinate structure and can be defined for the desired put-away sequence to prevent one-sided loading of a warehouse storage area.
Procedure
Assign a figure between 1 and 6 to this field based on the position in the storage bin coordinate structure for storage bins in the storage type that you want to be filled.
Example
R = row, S = stack, L = level
For coordinate structure R R - S S - L L , if you enter 1 2 3 4 5 into the sort variable fields for positions 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of the coordinate structure (that is for S S - L L), the first stack in each row of the warehouse will be filled first, the second stack will be filled next, and so on.
For this example, the entries in the configuration table will appear as follows:
