Definition
The determination of 2-step picking relevancy for materials in the individual reference documents (transfer requirements or deliveries) takes place when these documents are first created. At this time, the 2-step picking relevancy is checked and the individual items in the documents are marked accordingly. Therefore, when you assign the documents to the reference number, you do not normally need to redetermine the 2-step relevancy for the reference documents.
Procedure
In the standard system, 2-step picking is controlled based on materials (you designate materials for 2-step picking in the material master record). If this is not sufficient for your needs, you can use the customer exit MWM2S001 to define your own control parameters. When you determine the 2-step picking relevancy, you can activate this customer exit. The system determines the relevance of materials for 2-step picking separately for each group and this can only take place after the system creates a group for the relevant reference documents (transfer requirements or deliveries). You can carry out this function directly when you assign documents to a group or as an independent transaction.
The determination of the 2-step picking relevancy can take place in the background or in the foreground. If you process the group in the foreground, you can influence the 2-step picking relevancy manually.
You should take the following points into consideration when you set this indicator:
- If the standard control parameters for 2-step picking are sufficient, you do not need to determine the 2-step relevancy when you assign reference documents to a group.
- You use the standard system, but you need to change the controls for 2-step picking frequently in your daily operations. In this case, it is advantageous for you to redetermine the 2-step picking relevancy after the group has been created. This determination must not take place when you assign documents to the group, but instead, should be carried out shortly before starting the picking process.
- If you use the customer exit MWM2S001, you must carry out the determination of the 2-step relevancy for the group you created. If the control parameters you use in your daily operations do not change, it makes sense for the system to determine the 2-step relevancy directly when you create the group.
- Since the 2-step relevancy determination function significantly affects the performance of the system, you should not use it unless it is absolutely necessary.
